SkillsBase’s Forge AI platform has won the AI Innovation Award at Connected Britain 2026, recognising its contribution to practical artificial intelligence in telecommunications field operations.

The journey began with DexGreen’s Virtual Buddy, developed for Openreach to provide engineers with immediate feedback on their work in the field. Building on that experience, SkillsBase developed Forge so organisations can build, manage and deploy computer vision models around their own inspection requirements, without specialist machine-learning expertise. Supported models can also run offline, keeping feedback available where connectivity is unreliable.

The organisers highlighted the role of the winning solution in moving quality assurance from retrospective, back-office auditing towards real-time support for engineers in the field. The win follows three Connected Britain nominations and Emerging Cork Company of the Year finalist recognition earlier in 2026.
